Cannibis has proven to have medicinal properties, which is why the state of Maryland legalized Marijuana over 5 years ago. Now is the time for Maryland to legalize it for recreational use just like alcohol was years ago. This is a billion dollar industry for those who grow and sell the product. Unfortunately, African Americans have been locked out of the economic opportunities associated with marijuana. For many years African Americans have been incarcerated for small amounts of marijuana. Until recently many people were able to expunge their records. However, as a means of economic justice It is time to legalize marijuana. It is time for those who have suffered under unfair laws to have this removed and to legalize the substance. Legalizing marijuana would create economic opportunities especially for African Americans to become growers and sellers.
