About Monica Roebuck

Monica Roebuck has been a resident of the City of Bowie for over 20 years. Monica enjoys serving the community to make a difference. She is a graduate of Howard University and Bowie State University with a Masters in Teaching. She worked at Samuel Ogel Elementary School and Benjamin Tasker Middle School where she worked for over 10 years as a reading and social studies teacher. She also served on the City of Bowie Education committee, an exciting experience to award scholarships to students and grants to teachers. Most recently she was a member of the Juneteenth Committee This years celebration was a huge success and attracted more than 15,000 people. Monica is a member of the First Baptist Church of Glenarden and a Member of Alpha kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. In her free time, Monica enjoys listening to music and walking outdoors.

Quality of Life in Bowie

Crime and Public Safety

At the heart of quality of life is safety. Everyone wants to feel safe in their home and the community. Crime has been rising throughout Bowie and I will work with our police department and the safety committee to address this problem to reduce crime.

Development and Retail

Bowie residents deserve to have quality retail and development. I have created a workgroup to look at how we can attract the retail that residents want. Many residents have expressed the need for a sit down restaurant that offers healthy options. We also have to slow down unnecessary development which creates traffic and other problems.

City Services

District 2 is a unique part of Bowie. Many of the residents are experiencing brown water and this is a major problem. Everyone deserves clean drinking and bathing water. I will address this with the city to find out how it can be fixed. Many residents are also experiencing power outages after heavy storms.
